Fascial Release of the foot and lower leg (Myofascial Release)

We are now offering appointments in myofascial release of the soft tissues of the foot and lower leg including for the plantar fascia, plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendon, anterior tibial, posterior tibial tendon and more. If you have pain, sensitivity, tightness and soreness or even mild tendonitis in your muscles then perhaps some sessions of myo-fascia release may be the thing for you as part of your healing journey.

What is fascia after all. Fascia is a tissue made of multiple layers, which cradles and supports the muscles and organs of the body. It acts to reduce friction, helps the bones and blood supply and acts reflexively. When the fascia surrounding your muscles becomes stressed or unhealthy, it may thickened and you may experience pain, tightness and discomfort.

Below is a video from our latest training at the Foot and Ankle Show Liverpool 2026 demonstrating one of the fascia release techniques for the plantar fascia using the Fascia Release Tool.

Myofascial release is a technique where you massage area’s of the body applying a pressure to release tension which may ease pain and promote healing. It can be performed either with the hands, fingers, elbows, forearms and more or, with the use of a specially designed fascia release tool as seen in the video. When Fascia is in a healthy state, it is supposed to allow muscles to glide smoothly across each other. When the fascia becomes stressed, it can become tight, drier, and thicker.

Who may benefit from fascia release technique. Well anyone really. If we walk, we are running, we are a working professional on our feet, we are active and just living life, overuse, faulty movement patterns or even just holding stress within us may tighten our fascia. Fascial release technique may significantly help release tension and promote healing coupled with other physical therapy such as stretching, deep tissue massage and even correcting movement patterns. If you are not sure re your symptoms then we always advice discussing getting scans with your GP/medical practitioner to ensure it is safe for you to start a course of any treatment.

If you are keen to learn more or would like to try one of our sessions, then we would be more than happy to help you.
